Did the Twilight Movie Suck
Firstly you need to watch the trailer
I wasn’t really sure the Twilight movie would suck until I saw the trailer. Its a mixture of the fake fog, Rob’s crappy paleness, and the cheesy lines that seem to be emanating from the characters mouths. “How long have you been 17?” OMG, at its very core that line is the epitomy of cheesiness. Then we flash to Ed flying through a forrest. The moment I saw Ed flying through the forrest is when I knew I’d both waste my money on Twilight and the movie would probably be the poster child for cheesiness. At first, I was disappointed in the directing of the movie, and then I realized it doesn’t really have that much to do with the directing. The reasons it won’t be a good movie is because of the book.
Most importantly, I’m not saying Twilight is a bad book. If I said that, then I’d be a complete idiot ignoring the millions of female fans, and that one gay guy Callie saw on the news. What I’m saying is Twilight doesn’t lend itself to being well-done on screen without looking a twinge cheesy. Honestly, what vampire movie doesn’t have a hint of cheesiness to it?
Here are my Reasons Twilight will probably suck (Part 1)
Reason 1) I knew I was in store for a crappy love story with another Vampire who shouldn’t be in love with a human. I just didn’t know that I’d like the love story. But, lets face it, as one reviewer once said Edward only really has three lines:
- 1) Bella I’m madly in LOVE with you. You are my stars. My life. The food I eat my chopsticks with. The graham cracker to my smore. I can’t imagine life without you.
- 2) Bella you silly silly fool.
- 3) Jacob is a stinky dog.
Aside from the book itself, there are some other obvious factors that make it obvious Twilight won’t meet my expectations.
Reason 2) Edward is supposed to be HOT. Like the last Punisher Movie guy, Thomas Jane, without his shirt off good looking.I mean lets compare Guys, since Edward is supposed to be like the hottest like guy in like the ENTIRE WORLD.
Who’s Hotter?
Obviously, Robert is not the hottest guy in the world. Thomas Jane is WAAAY hotter. This just proves Thomas Jane should be playing Edward.
Reason 3) Jasper’s Hair
What’s up with the hair? It looks like a mop,or someone played with staticky balloons on top of his head. Maybe Jasper isn’t a vampire, maybe he’s a cat, and he drowned. Aren’t book vampires supposed to be hot and seductive. I mean I’m sure some girls like the dissheveled I just got out of bed look, but seriously, I’m sure even they would be willing to invest in a hairbrush for poor poor jasper.
Now, I’m aware I’ve given you all alot to consider. So, I’ll stop there and continue later.
I agree with you on only one point. Jasper’s hair is whack. He looks better brunette and has he ever heard of a brush. But your first point may apply to you, but what about the other thousand fans out there who want to read a lame love story, even if it is about a vampire in love with a human. Its not who they are, but the actual story itself. The vampire thing is just to make it more interesting. And point number two, yes Edward is suppose to be the hottest guy on the planet, but where are we gonna get one of those who can act well?

i really hate the cast, oh my gahhh. ive read these books since twilight first came out and these characters, any of them, are not as expected. This is why the movie will suck. Besides, they’ll see Edward as being stupid Cedrik Diggory from Harry Pothead.

My dearest Katharine,
You are quite justified in your complaint about my pre-judgement of Twilight. Yes, the quote is from the actual book (I did take the time to read Twilight), but the book embraces a true quality of cheesiness to it. Plus, most awesome books usually suck when they are made into movies (you know the magic is taken away). I mean the only book that was as good as the movie was Fight Club. I’ll have a true review after I see Twilight, but I’m justified in saying (based on the available evidence) the movie will probably suck… Yes, a prediction that could be wrong.
Of course, I am hoping Twilight will rock in theatres. You think I want to see a great book ruined (once again) on screen? I’m rooting for Twilight to be good, but I don’t want to walk out of theatres disappointed yet again.
Jasper’s hair IS effed up and the fact that the director’s and designers would pay so little attention to the fact that one of the (supposedly) hot looking people looks as if a dirty dust mop parked on his head which should also prepare you to go into the movie theatre expecting Jasper’s hair not to be the only messed up thing in the movie.
Don’t be afraid to think beyond what the media tells you. Of course Stephanie Meyer and the directors of Twilight are going to say Twilight will be awesome, they’re trying to make money off of you. I mean, they’re are a lot of crappy movies that directors and writer’s said would rock and they sucked.
But, you’re entitled to your own opinion. I’m just answering your complaint.

Ouch! Seriously, why are you all hating on Robert Pattinson so much? He is incredibly good looking, he is definitely my Edward. Think how happy he is to get this amazing part. He is up and coming and could use all of the support he can. Just because he’s not your perfect vision of Edward is no reason to hate. Attraction is completely subjective. You all should have at least learned that through these books. No one can control who they love or who they are attracted too.
So stop judging so hard til you see the movie and stop being so mean.
I agree that in one way shape or form with the movie be nearly as good as the book but give it a chance to at least be a good movie, if not a good adaptation.
And if the author STEPHENIE MEYER is happy we should be happy with her choice, cause it truly is HER vision not ours.
Think about all this.

p.s. Choke is a great movie, (it’s another adaptation of a Chuck Palahniuk novel) but if you have read the book, it is good movie

Also, the line “How long have you been 17?” comes strait from the book idiot. Maybe you should do a little more research before you go trashing a movie that looks really awesome. The director and producers got a lot of input and criteria from Stephenie Meyer herself, about how they are doing and if what they doing is right. If you actually watch the interviews and clips from the movie, maybe you will see how good the movie will be. The director, producers, and cast definitely know what they are doing, and they are dedicated and working hard to make the movie the best it can be. Just watching the trailer doesn’t justify how bad the movie is going to be, you need to watch a little more than tHAT, ASSHOLE. And plus, Robert is the best actor to play Edward. Most fans would agree with me, so just shut up.

Not the fact that it wasn’t CORRECT. Because it is. I am a HUGE Twilight fan. At first, i didn’t liek the cast. But i warmed up to them. I DO agree about Jasper. Not only the hair. He’s supposed to be like… BREATHTAKING. Now he looks like, as I’ m quoting from my friend “A pece of angel shit.”
But Rob is a pretty good EdCull… in character. otherwise… eh. if anyone isn’t right for their part it’s taylor. he’s more Seth-y than Jake-y.

I’ll take a neutral point of view here because although I am a total Twilighter I don’t want to seem prejudiced.
Okay first of all yes I was expecting someone a little less dark and a little more sweet looking for Edward but I have been unable to find anyone I think who would suit Edward any more than Rob. Yes he is still a bit below expectation but for God’s sake what human on this Earth isn’t?! I mean, seriously, Edward’s supposed to be perfect! There is no one perfect on this earth so while I will always keep my own little version of Edward dear to my heart and soul, Rob is a great actor and he will do the part of Edward to his full potential and it’s high time he gets a starring role in a hugely popular movie. I mean really his part in Harry Potter was important enough but he was pretty much introduced in the fourth movie then killed off before the two hours were up.
Secondly, while the idea that Edward is “cheesy” may seem so to you but that does not mean it so to everyone. Most would take him a sweet and sensitive. Also comments on the book should be kept to a book review instead of something entirely movie based. I must comment that Edward to me seems like the one who always says the right thing and who wouldn’t want to be told that they’re someone’s life and that someone couldn’t live with out them? While this may be viewed as “Cheesy” to some, to most it is extremely sweet.
Though I must agree with you on the fact that Jasper’s hair is awful it may just be because the spent more time and focus on making Rob live up to expectations. Jasper will not be as active in the movies therefor he will not need to be worked over as much. He is more of a background character till the third movie anyway.
To Alex ~ your statement about Twilight not coming close to Harry Potter is completely biased and I happen to know there are millions of rabid fangirls who would tear you apart if they heard that you said that.
To Lola ~ What the Hell are you talking about?!! The movie hasn’t even come out yet so why are you talking A.) In the past tense and B.) As though you already know what’s going to happen?!

any great book made into a movie SUCKS in comparison, that doesn’t mean its not entertaining but if you compare the two the movie is awful. For example, harry potter movies are extremely inaccurate, i have friends that can go on and on about this. its just a fact that there is no way you can fit all of a book (especially if it’s long and detailed like harry potter or even twilight) into a movie. its just not going to happen and its ridiculous to think that it could. so at best this movie will be entertaining in comparison but i agree with the original poster that it will probably suck, at least to the people who can get over the “hotness” of edward (i honestly think he’s ugly but there’s so many fans who adore him) and other such aspects. the whole thing, from the trailers and whatnot i’ve seen seem ridiculously cheesy, fake and just kinda make me want to look away in embarrassment. so yeah that’s all i’m expecting. i’m gonna go see it though. maybe it’ll change my mind. but i’m not going right when it comes out with all the f*cking crazy fans, i think i’d probably kill myself having to listen to them throughout the movie. whatever. i guess i can only be pleasantly surprised, or at least i hope it can’t be worse than i’m imagining.

personally, i’m jazzed about the film but thats just me. i dont see why some of you are getting so caught up in hating the cast, the hair, the lines (that are from the book) or whatever else. in the end it’s all fiction. it’s NOT real. i know everyone has their opinions but cut them some slack. after all, it is an interpritation of the book, not compleatly true to it.

THE MOVIE SUCKED!!!!!!!!!
The people in the theater I was in, flat out LAUGHED at it. They were in hysterics while watching “Edward” in biology and every time there was a supposed romantic or serious scene – Just about everything was wrong from – the cheesy acting, to the lame effects. The only time they laughed appropriately was when “Bella” was being clumsy. The rest of time the gripping and disappointment rained. The story line was such a retarded interpretation of the book. Just because you add a few lines and ideas from the book doesn’t mean you can clam that it was based on a book by Stephanie Meyer. Oh God I hope that if they dare do anymore movies in the twilight saga – The movie studio FIRES everyone and go back to drawing board.

Honestly, I don’t have to “shut the hell up” on my Personal Blog. You must have been interested if you went clicking on the link that said “top reasons the twilight movie will probably suck”…I mean if you wanted to read good things about twilight wouldn’t you have clicked on one of the many links that go something along the lines of ‘OMG! Twilight kicked ass?’
Now that we both understand you were interested in what I had to say (enough to click a link), I will address your complaint. Aside from the fact you COMPLETELY ignored the word ‘probably’ which hints at the fact this is a prediction. I wrote an ACTUAL review after I saw Twilight (and BTW, it now officially sucks), that link is listed on the author’s note at the top of the blog. In the post I admit I was wrong in my judgement of Robert playing Edward. Robert did a good job, and I’m glad they didn’t get some tool to play Edward. Why is twilight cheesy?
If you can’t see why twilight is cheesy let me give you my reasons:
1) Edward glitters in the effin sunlight
2) Edward GLITTERS in the sunlight
3) The plot line where a young slightly nerdy girl falls in love with the perfect man, has been written MANY times before.
4) Edward really does have around three lines he says in different ways.
5) The book rests ALOT on its humorous parts to prevent it from sounding like an angsty teen novel. With downer-bella and sullen-edward.
Regarding Jasper’s Hair: My review of the movie expresses my joy in the fact they combed it down on screen. Aside from the fact Jasper didn’t look as much pained as he did constipated, i think the way the vampires were made to look was a product of crappy directing. They could have looked better. All in all, the directors and producers showed a bit of carelessness in the movie they made and relied on the popularity of Twilight as a book to make it do well in box offices. I could have directed it,and you probably would have went to go see it and still said it was awesome.

Come on, its twilight. The plot has been used in many other stories. In truth, the story uses the same wording many times, but are you guys suppose to be critics? Critics are legless people who teach running.
The movie was a bit old fashioned. A bit odd too. not what I had expected at all. Some of the best parts of the book weren’t used, which was a great disappointment.
Now, about that hair. The hair wasn’t all that bad at all. The shot thats in that picture just so happens to be taking when his hair was a bit messed up.
Twilight is a romance, Harry Potter is for children of all ages, and very creative too. You can’t possibly say that Twilight could be better, after all only teens really read the book, whereas Kids and teens love Harry Potter.
About those three points about Edward only really saying those things in the books, true. Absolutely correct. I’m going to check this blog every few days, if you can, tell me something from the book not about those three points.

Seriously… I’ve been a vampire novels fan since I was 11… Now I’m 20… the kind of person who loves Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Anne Rice’s Vampires Chronicles (When it comes to vampires); Stephenie M. says Anne Rice was one of her inspirations, so I read the whole saga just to see what it was like, started Twilight when it first came out, out of boredom cuz I had nothing light to read and well, was about vampires…
She has a way to capture people’s attention even if her stories aren’t good, she’s creative but she really is not a great writer, and well I liked the books cause those were entertaining but doesn’t mean that were good… (Specially Breaking Dawn…. just.. what an effing lame book…)
I understand why you all little girls try to defend it. Cause you’ve actually haven’t read anything else about vampires, and well maybe not even any literature at all, this is just another teen love story that adds vampires and werewolves to make it “wow” but if instead of that were just bad boys would be the same thing…
About the movie… I was just ashamed to be there and regretting haven wasted my money on it. Bad acting, horrible cast, horrible make-up, well just… horrible, they’ve could have done better, and I’m sorry to say this to all u airhead kids, but Robert Pattison can be kind of cute but I really don’t thing he’s hot or a good “Edward Cullen” at all =/ he’s just not, his face looks kind of flat and his acting skills aren’t so good…
I really don’t understand why you kids feel hurt when someone says the truth or their opinions, be a little open to critics, maybe u just know Twilight by now, so my advice to you is… Read something else (something worth it…) and then you’ll see what I and other people are talking about when we say.. Twilight sucked…

But hopefully without ruffling too many feathers I would like to point out the fact that no matter how much you WANTED to like the movie (so did I, believe me!), it was a general disappointment. I say that because the movies that are spun from books are supposed to try to hold as true to the book as possible.
The main characters were poorly cast. Was Rob Pattinson good-looking enough to play Edward? For sure! Physically he pulled off the vampire look without a hitch. Was Kristen Stewart a good physical match for Bella? About as good as we could have hoped for, yeah.
Did Rob Pattinson portray the personality of Edward from the book? Not even close. Edward is sarcastic, cocky, and haughty. Extremely confident and sure of himself. And he should be… let’s face it, if you were lethal and indestructible, physically flawless and forever young, let’s not forget rich…and then you had 90 years with no sleep to get smarter than just about everyone else on the planet and let all of the above factors sink in….and oh yes, you were NEVER going to die, well, who wouldn’t be confident?
Robert Pattinson is such a nice guy–or at least that’s what every shred of evidence points to–but I think that’s the problem; that was Rob on the screen, not Edward. A worrying, apologetic, timid Rob Pattinson is what we got. Where is Edward’s rage and dark side? His over-powering demeanor?
Make Rob Pattinson uber-confident and cool and you will have your Edward. But Edward isn’t Edward unless he ACTS like Edward!!
And Bella, she’s intelligent and insightful but a klutz, and very self concious. She’s deeply. deeply emotional in the book..and well just DEEP period, which is why Edward loves her…she’s good to the core, concerned for everone else and a caretaker. Onscreen Bella is so shallow. Not as in self-absorbed, but just so flat, her thoughts or actions never seem to go that deep…no depth or insight to her character at all. We just see the surface of a generic girl who constantly looks like she’s in a daze. Cool as a cucumber, we never get a hint of her internal struggle. Truly disappointing.
Having said that, some cast members were cast super appropriately. Jacob was a happy fun-loving guy as he’s supposed to be in the first book. Carlisle pulled off compassion and patience while Esme and Emmett also do appropriate justice to their characters (for a movie…the book is so good it’s hard to beat)in their all be it small roles.
I loved the book so much and I wanted the movie to be somewhat close to as good. I definitely know that when I was reading the book the way that the characters were behaving in my head was nothing like the way I saw the actors performing onscreen, and I venture to say that’s true for most others, also. I know that’s not what people want to hear…but I wanted to say something for all the twilight fans (if you hated the book anyway who cares what you think about the movie) who walked out of the theater thinking ‘I REALLY want to like it…I’m trying so hard to like it…but that’s just not Edward and Bella up there’ but like me were a little afraid to because of the onslaught of backlash they’d get for saying anything bad a movie with a cute guy pretending to be a vampire in it.
I think in about 10 years when the majority of the twilight fan base actually appreciate ACTING talent, most of them will have to agree this was a sad representation of the two main characters.
I’m still holding out hope for NEW MOON, Maybe the actors can grow a bit. I know Dakota Fanning will be brilliant as Jane.

The book was AMAZING , but sadly the movie was horriable . The movie was hilarious soo stupid , it could have been great,
