I’ve been slowly building a book list in random posts, and I just noticed that I’ve been doing it. So, I decided to make one big-official list, and add books as I think of them or read them. You can join along with the book-list read and review. I think that since I like these books so much, and you’ve been reading my blog…You might Like them to.

This is the Trailer for the Prozac Nation Movie which has already been released.
Elizabeth Wurtzel is one of my all-time favortie writers. For anyone who has been unfortunate enough to experience depression these two book will make you feel as if you’re not alone. Firstly, Wurtzel grips you with an amazing knack for writing and then she pulls the words directly out of your mouth about certain feelings of emotions. She has this way of putting words to things I’ve only been able to express through emotion and feeling.

I remember being assigned this book in highschool and not wanting to read it. But, in retrospect I have to thank the English teacher who made us read such a touching book. I was just young enough to never know what people feel when they say they’ve lost something, and when I finished the book I understood the world in a way that I’d never understood the world before. Sadly, I don’t remember exactly what the book said that changed me…I just remember that it did.
I was recently assigned this book, and finished it today. This is another teacher I’m going to have to thank for assigning me literature I wouldn’t typically read. I’ve read a few slave narratives in my time, but I’ve never felt that close to the main character. Often I feel like I’m watching and I’m not apart of the action. With Twelve Years a Slave, I felt like Northup was speaking directly to me, and that I could do something to improve the horrible slave conditions during the time of slavery. In fact, never have I felt so helpless to a book before. If you’re going to read a slave narrative read this one.

So what James Frey lied in his supposedly “truthfull/heartfelt” memoir!!! Writers lie every day (although not in the non-fiction category), and if you pretend that you found Frey’s books in an entirely different section then you might be able to see past all of the negative press that surrounded the book. James Frey is a brilliant vivd writter. The story, heartache, and plot still resonate off the page as though he hadn’t lied. As a narrator he has an amazing amount of honesty and gritty detail in a limited amount of words. Even though you aren’t an addict you can understand what change and recovery is all about.
What’s better than one feminist writer? A collection of the works of several of “bitchy” femininist writers crammed into one book. They don’t mince their words, and they say what they think. The best collection of feminist writings I’ve ever stumbled upon in my life.

Remember the summer reading list that I posted, and never decided to review any of the books listed? Well, 1984 was on the list, and it turned out to be one of the greatest summer reads I had ever read in my entire life. A totally different and imaginative world, with characters trying to thwart an oppressive government. I can’t beleive I wasn’t assigned this book in highscool…I loved it, more than any book I can ever imagine.

Whats better than listening to Holden Caufield drone on about how the world is screwing him over. Listening to Nick Twisp ramble on about he needs to be with Sheeni and will do anything to get there. Just imagine that for every sad undertone Catcher in the Rhye had, a funny and hillarious thrill sinking moment. This book is going to be made into a movie with (one of my favorite actors) the always akward Michael Cera. The Youtube video is posted along side this.

Dan Brown is one of my favorite writers and his books are some of the greatest action packed thrillers that you will come to read.
AMAZING TEEN READS (PARANORMAL INFLUENCES)

The Harry Potters.
Before this series came out, the most I ever read was the babysitters club series. My dad in an effort to get me to take a larger effort in literature bought me the first book, for a long time it set in my bookshelf until one day curiosity got the best of me. From the first page I was hooked by J.K Rowlings amazing plot twists and vivid detail. I felt as though I was actually at Hogwarts. For the first time in my life I realized, reading wasn’t about turning pages and reading pathetically boring uninteresting text, but visualizing and expanding that litle world inside of your head. These books started an insatiable craving for more amazing literature like it, and if it hadn’t been for the Harry Potters a good majority of this book list probably wouldn’t exist.

As much as I hate to admit to being a 21 year old who fell for the lines of Edward Cullen….Grr…I did fall for his smoothness and love for Bella. This book didn’t change my life, but even if you don’t want to admit it you’ll like it.

This is a teen vampire book I’ll actually admit to reading to. Imagine Twilight with Edward being a spoiled somewhat ass-holey pompous but still suave guy, and me as Bella. This would be what you’re reading. Its hillarious and dark, and the only problem with this book is that it doesn’t have a sequel.
TEEN BOOKS (NON-PARANORMAL)

Very intersting book about a girl who is a teenage cutter. The writer is fabulous, and it will make you think in a different way.

Ellen Hopkins Books like Glass, Crank, Burned, Identical, and Impulse take a different approach in writing style to story telling, but still basically tell the story in a beautifully imaginative and amazing way.
